Liver Regeneration

Radical Proof the Body is Capable of Healing Itself

Scientists are just now figuring out what many have known for years – that liver regeneration is possible and easier than previously thought. And it can do so with as little as 25% of the healthy liver tissue remaining! I believe this proves what holistic and alternative practitioners have known for years – that the body has a remarkable capability to heal itself without taking damaging drugs. Given the proper nutrition and lifestyle changes, one can, in a relatively short period of time, often regain their health.

However, some people are not afforded the luxury of time and find themselves in a health crisis. This is when doctors are necessary, they come in handy during emergency situations.   • Spinach, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, papayas, and melons are all good sources of Vitamin C, antioxidants and beta-carotene.
  • Broccoli, cabbage, brazil nuts, onions, asparagus, avocado, and mushrooms all contain natural sulfur compounds, and/or selenium and/or glutathione all of which are important for liver detoxification.
  • Lemons help to cleanse the body.
  • Walnuts contain arginine to help the liver detoxify ammonia, a waste product of the body. They also contain omega-3 fatty acids which help detoxify and add healthy fats.
  • Soy Beans contain lecithin which helps the liver break down fats and helps maintain healthy membranes around liver cells.
  • Dark green superfoods are full of easily assimilated proteins, folic acid and vitamins to assist your body healing process and liver regeneration, if needed.

 Keep in mind it takes more nutrient dense foods to heal a compromised body. That’s why juicing is key here. For example I juice two 1# bags of carrots daily before lunch. Biography of Dr. Johanna Budwig

Dr Johanna Budwig was one of the most important biochemists in Germany who is remembered mostly for her incredible discoveries into the effect that diet can have on a number of serious diseases including cancer. The Budwig Diet, which she created to help to combat and treat cancer in patients, was the culmination of an entire career’s worth of work.

Her work with cancer patients led her to becoming recognised as one of the leading cancer researchers in Europe. Her work was so widely respected that she was even nominated for the Nobel Prize on seven occasions. She spent a large part of her life trying to help cancer patients and those with other terrible illnesses, and she managed to achieve remarkable success with her natural treatment program.

Before the Budwig Diet

Dr Budwig was born in 1908, and died at the age of 95 following a fall. Before her discoveries into the effect that diet can have on the body, she was a leading biochemist who was widely respected by her peers. She held a PhD in Natural Science, a doctorate in physics and was a qualified pharmacologist and chemist. She was also the chief expert consultant for drugs and fats at the Federal Institute for Fats research.

Dr Budwig was a specialist in the role that fats played in the diet. Although we are now mostly aware of good and bad fats and how important they are, Dr Budwig was making these discoveries a long time before it became accepted knowledge. She even lectured on the importance that essential fatty acids held in the modern diet over 40 years ago.

On top of this, she was a published author. She wrote mainly on her discoveries with fats and the natural cure for cancer, and published such books as ‘The Oil Protein Diet Cookbook’ and ‘Cancer – the Problem and the Solution’ which has been translated into English.

Important Discoveries

It was Dr Budwig’s research surrounding different types of fat that were the trigger for her research into the cure for cancer. Most importantly, Dr Budwig became aware of the potentially serious problems with the modern diet. Namely, that it was composed of a great quantity of over-processed foods that contained high levels of hydrogenated fats. According to Dr Budwig, this and the lack of essential fatty acids in the diet were likely to be one of the major causes of serious illnesses in the developing world.

As a result of this research and discoveries into the presence of fats in the modern diet, Dr Budwig set about researching how these could be affecting cancer patients and sufferers of other serious diseases. She was sure that not only could diet help people to lead more healthy lifestyles, but that it could actively help to treat those people who were suffering from diseases. Now all she had to do was prove her theory.

Key Research

So began Dr Budwig’s research into cancer patients in her attempt to discover what was making them ill and how they could be potentially cured. The majority of her research was made into the blood of the cancer patients. She analysed this because she was sure that it held the secret to her ideas surrounding a potential cure for cancer.

After years of research, she had made a number of important discoveries into the blood of cancer patients and how it differed from that of healthy people. The main findings she made were that the blood of cancer patients lacked the same levels of lipoproteins, phospatides, haemoglobin and Omega 3 as those found in the blood of healthy people.

In addition, she discovered that cancer patients had a strange greenish-yellow substance in their blood that she could not find in the blood of healthy people. She realised that getting rid of this substance was key to the recovery of cancer patients. And it was through the diet of the patients that she was adamant the process could take place, allowing her to reverse the process.

Treatment Begins

Dr Budwig came up with a treatment programme that was based on giving patients a diet based on two simple ingredients: flaxseed oil and quark. In combination with these ingredients, patients would also follow a plant based diet free of unhealthy foods, reduce stress, get outside in the fresh air and take gentle exercise, and be exposed to a lot of sunlight.

Flaxseed oil was chosen by Dr Budwig because it contains a very high level of Omega 3, as well as being easily tolerated by the majority of people. Quark, a substance similar to cottage cheese, was chosen for its high levels of sulfurated protein. The two were required in combination in order to help the absorption of the flaxseed oil into the body.

Immediate Results

Almost immediately, improvements were witnessed in her trial patients. After just three months, her patients began to improve in health and strength, and the strange substance in their blood began to disappear at the same time as the nutrients began to rise. Dr Budwig had found her cure for cancer, and set about making the details of the Budwig Diet readily available.

Below is the natural cancer diet/lifestyle that I chose called the Budwig Protocol. The reason I decided on this one in particular was because of the radical healing testimonies. I read accounts of many once terminal people regaining their health and keeping their healings decades later. I had never heard of anyone overcoming liver, pancreas, ovarian, gioblastoma, and all the dreadful cancers that claim so many lives each year.

I quickly joined the free Budwig Forum which Sandra Olson owns and moderates. She has thousands of members from all corners of the earth. We members go there to learn, ask questions, share experiences, and troubleshoot.  

There is apx a 90% reported sucess rate for people who follow this diet strictly. This is the diet that Dr. Johanna Budwig contributed her life to. Dr. Budwig was a brilliant scientist who coined the term Essential Fatty Acids. She was an expert in fats and oils and a 7 time Nobel Nominee. My next blog will be on her. scientist & health practitioner who worked with patients from 1952 to 2000 or 2002. You can read about her in our files.

This guide can help you to follow Dr. Budwig’s full program. It’s based on her
book, “Cancer – The Problem and the Solution” [1999], her cookbook, “The
Oil-Protein Diet” [1952] as well as on our Filesfor this group and experiences of our members. The menu below is Dr. Budwig’s SUGGESTED GUIDELINE, you don’t have to consume all of it.

Most people begin gradually, adding healthy foods & liquids and eliminating damaging ones. The diet seems simple, but foods are powerful and can damage or heal a person. The Budwig plan has healed people of many kinds of cancer and other diseases and conditions.

In liver, pancreatic, stomach and gall bladder disease it’s best to begin with a “Transition Diet” which is explained in our Files Section, Folder 3. After the transition, begin the diet below with small amounts of the oil & cheese as well as the other foods.

Dr.Budwig had over a 90% success rate with this protocol with all kinds of cancer patients over a 50 year period. Many research studies done in the last ten years support the cancer-fighting value of the foods, juices, sun exposure and relaxation Dr.Budwig recommended. There are many testimonials in the Files of this group written by members who have regained their health by following this protocol after being diagnosed with cancer – many of them terminal.

To start the diet, it helps to have 3 appliances:
1- A coffee bean grinder to grind the whole brown flaxseeds sold in health food stores or online. Freshly ground seeds are a must.
2- An immersion hand-held mixer (a stick-shaped mixer) to blend and bond the flaxseed oil [FO] & cottage cheese [CC] together so that they become one food, making the oil water-soluble and more absorbable. It’s important to use an electric mixer rather than stirring the two.
3- A vegetable juicer. A masticating type juice is said to give a more healthful juice than a centrifugal type. Research Green Star & Omega 8005.

FLAXSEED OIL and COTTAGE CHEESE (FOCC) or quark:
Generally, each tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (FO) is blended with 2 or more tablespoons of low-fat organic Cottage Cheese(CC)or quark. That is a ratio of approximately 1:2. Cold-pressed refrigerated liquid FO is used, for example, Barlean’s & Spectrum. It’s better to buy regular FO instead of High Lignan FO. Healthier lignans are obtained at a lower cost by using freshly ground flaxseeds.
[used instead of Linomel]. Ground seeds must be consumed within 15 minutes.

TO START THE DAY – About an hour before breakfast, have a glass of sauerkraut
juice. It has cancer-fighting benefits and improves digestion. Homemade is best
in order to get the digestive enzymes [recipe in Files - Folder 5 'Foods'].

Anything pasteurized has lost its enzymes but still offers lactic acid which is important and helps with digestion. Biotta brand sauerkraut juice is pasteurized and is a high quality juice, has lactic acid & vitamins C & K. BREAKFAST -
Start with a cup of green tea or herbal tea. It provides warm liquid required for the ground flaxseeds to swell properly. That’s important. Then, eat your Muesli [Muesli in the Budwig diet refers to the recipe below. We often call it FOCC]. Besides cottage cheese or quark, you could use homemade yogurt cheese or kefir cheese with cow or goat milk. [See recipes in Files]

Budwig FOCC[or quark]Recipe: [Make enough for 1 meal only, avoid storing. Eat
immediately. Use organic foods if possible. JB's cookbook has varied recipes]
[1] Blend 3 Tbs flaxseed oil with 6 Tbs low-fat CC or quark with a hand-held
immersion electric mixer for up to a minute. If needed, add 2 Tbs milk. Avoid
adding water or juices when blending FO with CC or quark.The mixture should be thoroughly blended with no separated oil. Layer or stir in the following ingredients:
[2] Grind 1 or 2 Tbs whole flaxseeds and add. [This replaces Linomel] Freshly ground seeds become rancid within 2 0 minutes, eat recipe immediately.
[3] Add various fruits such as fresh [or thawed-out frozen if necessary] berries, all kinds, which contain strong cancer-fighting ellagic acid.
[4] Add other fresh fruit if you like, totaling 1/2 to 1 cup of fruit.
[5] If mixture is too thick, add 1 or 2 Tbs of fruit juice [e.g. dark grape, blueberry] or milk. Fruits & their juices are proven cancer fighters.
[6] Add organic raw nuts such as walnuts or Brazil nuts [no peanuts] and a bit of raw honey. For variety, try vanilla, cinnamon, lemon juice, pure cocoa or shredded coconut. Try various fresh organic fruits & flavorings. Afterward, you can have whole grain bread (something other than wheat, which is harder to digest) with cucumber, tomato, radishes or other raw veggies. MID-MORNING -
Freshly-pressed vegetable juice from carrots and/or beet, celery, lemon, apple
as well as green vegetables – lettuces or spinach[carrot & beet juices are
especially helpful to the liver & are strong cancer fighters] Vary vegetables.

SUNLIGHT – Dr. Budwig emphasized that being in sunlight is very healthful for
vit.D and other benefits. Avoid burning & avoid sunscreen & sunglasses.

If you feel up to having some exercise, individualize it according to your strength – DON’T OVERDO IT. Regarding exercise, Dr.Budwig wrote: “Often yoga or sport is very important, but sometimes the patient should not do this” and “I would never allow a cancer patient with metastases to jog, ride a bicycle, or to practice yoga. His body must relax.” One form of exercise that is beneficial for most people is using a rebounder [a mini-trampoline] because it helps clear the lymph system and promotes better drainage. BEFORE LUNCH -
A cup of warm green or herbal tea. Use 1 tsp honey if desired (no sugar). Also
suggested, but optional, one Tbs whole flaxseeds, freshly ground & added to a
glass of champagne, known to help digestion & absorption. [1999 book]

LUNCH -
RAW vegetable salad with various home-made salad dressings which may include one or more Tbs FO blended with 1 or 2 Tbs organic low-fat CC plus one Tbs organic apple cider vinegar or lemon juice and spices. Or, for sweeter dressing, try FO & grape, orange, apple or another juice. You can vary the salad dressings based on the recipes in the Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook. Several recipes do not include cottage cheese at all. The body can utilize 1 or 2 Tbs oil without cottage cheese. Avoid commercial salad dressings. Pumpkin seed oil can also be used. Experiment with spices or honey for variety.

If still hungry, make steamed or boiled veggies and grains. [See "DINNER"]

LUNCH DESSERT: It’s IMPORTANT to have a SECOND SERVING of FOCC with varied fresh raw fruits (organic if possible). Again, use 3 Tbs FO & 6 Tbs CC with fresh fruit[omit flaxseeds if you had them in the champagne before lunch]. If there are problems digesting this amount of oil, begin with smaller amounts of FOCC and increase it slowly. Chew very well to optimise digestion. Predigestion
starts in the mouth by mixing saliva with the foods. Try to have meals in a
peaceful atmosphere. Relaxing is important.

MID-AFTERNOON -
One tablespoon whole flaxseeds, freshly ground, stirred into sparkling wine,
champagne or fruit juice: pure grape, blueberry, cherry, pineapple or papaya.
The amount of liquid can be adjusted to your appetite. Chew ground seeds for
better digestion.

RELAX, in sunlight if possible, TO RELIEVE STRESS. Empty the mind of worries,
angers, fears. Focus on nature, music, deep breathing & positive interactions.
Think kind thoughts about yourself & others. Dr. Budwig said that relieving
stress is extremely important. Many research studies support this idea.

LATE AFTERNOON -
One tablespoon whole flaxseeds, ground & added to one of the juices named above.
Both papaya & pineapple have digestive enzymes if they are fresh. Most bottled
juices have lost their enzymes but still have valuable nutrients. If making the
juice, drink it immediately after preparation before the enzymes are lost by air
and light. You want to get as many natural enzymes as possible [as well as
electrons from flax seeds & oils]. [Note: Instead of the fruit juices, some members heal using homemade vegetable juices as described at 10 a.m.]

DINNER -
Vegetable soup or a variety of veggies and starch-containing foods, well spiced. Add Oleolux and nutritional yeast flakes after cooking. Nutritional yeast adds important B-vitamins which boost energy & mood. Choices of cooked starchy foods – buckwheat (JB’s top choice-digests well & very nutritious), millet, brown rice, lentils, beans, peas, yams & potatoes. Add lightly cooked vegetables such as kale, tomatoes, spinach, beets, carrots, chard, cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli, onions, artichokes, asparagus, peppers, green beans, etc. Also, add healthful spices such as cayenne pepper, paprika, turmeric, sea salt & others. AFTER COOKING, add homemade Oleolux ‘to taste,’ which adds more nutrition and satiates appetite. [Oleolux recipe in File 5]. Use also on bread [whole or sprouted grain, homemade or Ezekiel].

EVENING -
A glass of organic red wine if desired.

The above diet can be varied by the many recipes in Dr. Budwig’s book “The
Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook,” sold on Amazon & Barlean’s websites for about $10.

THE FOLLOWING IS VERY IMPORTANT:
Dr. Budwig stressed that we must AVOID CANCER-PROMOTING FOODS such as
hydrogenated oils, trans-fats, animal fats/proteins [as in meats, poultry, seafood, eggs & butter], cane sugar, agave & maple syrups, preservatives, highly
processed foods, pesticides & chemicals, as in household products & cosmetics.
Drink pure water if possible.

++ Avoid leftovers – food should be prepared fresh and eaten soon after preparation to maximize intake of health-giving electrons & enzymes.

++ Drink warm green or herbal teas, unsweetened or sweetened only with honey.

++ Stress is damaging. Avoid stress-producing people & situations. Take time to
relax & enjoy each day. Listen to beautiful music, laugh, do deep breathing,
connect with nature, spend time with people you like. Reduce anger & sadness
through EFT[see emofree.com], counseling or a support group.

++ ELDI oils are oils for external application or enemas. Dr. Budwig had her
patients use them as needed. [See Files for information] .

++ Dr.Budwig did not include drugs or supplements in her protocol guidelines. In
her 1999 book, she spoke against them. She warned that high amounts of man-made supplemental antioxidants can interfere with the diet’s benefits. However, she did not completely forbid supplements. Some people have added a few supplements to their program & have made progress. Others have gotten well without them while following the Budwig plan. It may help to ask the group about your choices.

++ Dr. Budwig warned about adding drugs & treatments such as chemo & radiation, cortisones, hormones & pain killers. She also warned against the dangers of oxygen therapy for the cancer patient & said that the cells are not ready to absorb oxygen but are healed through diet. Flax oil is known to thin the blood, using blood-thinning drugs, including aspirin, could be dangerous.

++ The rejuvenating foods in the Budwig Protocol give the body what it needs
daily to stop cancer & keep it in check. Dr. Budwig suggested following the diet
strictly for five years before relaxing a little, but you can never stop the healing foods for more than a few days nor can you regularly eat damaging foods or damaging supplements. Doing so could allow cancer to return.

++ Take care of your teeth. Infections can interfere with your improvement.

Dr.Budwig’s book “Flax Oil as a True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infarction, Cancer and other Diseases” offers an understanding of the scientific principles behind this protocol. I HAVE WHAT!!!

You have cancer. Three words we all hate and dread to hear. Most of us are taken back. We didn’t ever expect it to happen to us. Now here we are with some possibly major decisions to make. Decisions that could mean the difference between life or death. What route am I going to take? Shall I go conventional or seek out alternatives? I want to highly encourage you to thoroughly do your homework either way. Make an informed decision. Not one you are rushed into by someone else. This is, afterall, your one and only life here.

Should anyone decide to go conventional you need to go home and do a lot of research. Serious, time consuming, laboring  HW. Please don’t  just hand over all control of your life to a complete stranger whose not nearly as interested in you as you and your family are. After your doctor has told you what his plan is for you, go home and read every thing about it you can find on the internet. How effective is it? What’s the rate of recurrence? Is there anyone alive to testify two years later? Does it give you any hope or a sense of deep dread? See if there are other treatment plans. Check out some cutting edge experts in your area. It may be worth the trip. There’s some interesting new research being done, especially overseas. Read all about it. Just don’t take the words your local doctor has spoken over you as the gospel. It’s not the final word unless you let it be and it’s certainly not the only remedy out there. Don’t be afraid and become completely paralyzed by the current situation. Instead, be bold…educate and empower yourself. Then on your next visit go in prepared with written down, thought out, well informed questions. You may frustrate you doctor by the fact that you dare ask him questions since he already told you his plan. If that happened to me, I’d find a new doctor. Also, make sure to check out the National Mortality Database and look at the statistics for your disease before your appt. If your treatment only buys you one or two years at the most, consider do you want to spend them in the hospital doing chemo and making yourself so sick that you only wish you were already dead only to live six more months.

Next, especially if you were given a so called grave prognosis, I want to encourage you. Still continue researching, remember it’s not over until the fat lady sings. If you or a loved one were given a death sentence by conventional medicine, or told to have some radical surgery that you don’t want to undergo, then another alternative is to look up natural therapies. What? Natural therapy with my kind of cancer! You must be joking. No, I most definetely am not. I ask you,  if  you’ve already been stamped terminal, what do you have to lose?  

The day I found out I had cancer I came home and immediately got on the computer. I typed in “Natural Cures for Breast Cancer.” The very first thing that popped up was the Budwig protocol. After researching it and reading testimonies of once “terminal” people that are alive five, ten, twenty years later still being cancer free, I decided that was the route for me. I then went to bed that night, slept like a baby, and I’ve never looked back. I have absolute perfect peace about it. And here’s the great news. It’s working. My tumor has shrunk in half. All I had to do was change my diet and develope a healthier lifestyle. Beats the heck out of a double radical mastectomy, radiation, chemo and breast reconstruction.  So you see there are choices to make that unfortunately most people never exercise.

I’ve decided to have a theme each month for my blogs. Since January is always the month of New Year Resolutions, I’m dedicating Jan to the Budwig Protocol. This diet and lifestyle change could not only help you to regain your health, but tremendously improve your life overall.

I’m Back and Focused

Hello All,

Determination. Focus. Faith. Vision. Yet so very many things to distract us. The bible says “My people perish for lack of vision.”  So true. A clear vision, with plans to attain it, and goals written down with deadlines. Where do I want to be at the end of 2010. Where do I want to be in two years. Five. Ten. Twenty. And what kind of elder do I want to be. I’ve had plenty of time to reflect lately and my goal is to finish my race with determination. To go out with a clear perspective and leave behind a blessed family legacy. So it is, I’ve got my work cut out for me.

I’ll be doing away with a lot of the distractions and noise. It’s the little foxes that spoil the vine. I don’t want to have lived my life without having lived it fully and abundantly as was promised. I plan to be a wise old woman full of  knowledge and understanding. I want to be able to pierce through the gross darkness of the world. I want to be able to help people up til my dying day. I want crowns. But most of all I want to hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” It’s all a choice you know. Which road to go down.

I’ll be staying my course on the long and narrow road, but with much more unction. I just spent 2 1/2 months layed up with a fractured hip having been stampeded by my 150# male goat named Marco. Many of you know I just purchased a small herd of Dairy Goats. Well, in the process of learning how to take care of them I took some hard falls. In my ignorance I learned to never ever, under any circumstance,  carry food into the gate.  They’re always hungry and trip you right up. It was that last fall where I was knocked into a tree and landed on a big root that got me. That was the one where I cried “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get back up,” just like that old commercial.

While it was extremely inconvenient to be out of commission, in retrospect the downtime was good for me. I needed it. Hurrying here. Rushing there. Always trying not to be late. Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign. Wow, just sit down and be still for awhile. What’s the profit if you lose your peace. Peace is everything to maintain a balanced life.

And so it is. Peace. That was my epiphany. Oh, this will not be a lay down easy thing to acquire. Just sitting by watching the tide roll away. Peace is not sitting beside a beautiful (yet stagnant) pond enjoying the water lilies and green pastures. Peace is staying your calm on a small branch over hanging a raging waterfall as a baby bird would be, nestled under her mothers wings. Peace is an aggressive all out plan of war. Seriously, something tries to steal our peace every single day of our lives morning, noon, and night. Well, I’m literally sick of it. I’m on the offence now. Think about it, how many of us can lay our heads on our pillow at night and think peaceful thoughts?  And be satisfied with what a focused and productive day we just had.  Not many that I know, myself included. 

So I will sign off with this. Peace, Love, Grace, and Mercy to you all in 2010. May you grow in wisdom and insight. What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul?

Dr. Mercola Speaks Out About Dangers Of Flu Vaccination

The following is another article written by Dr. Mercola in which he adamantly and continually warns against taking the current flu vaccination. According to him, the shot is much more dangerous than the flu itself. Here’s his latest warning to date:

Signs and Symptoms of Influenza

As most of you probably know, influenza is a contagious viral respiratory infection. Symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased appetite

Typically, the condition will improve after two to three days of bed rest, although some symptoms may persist for about a week.

What many people do NOT know, however, is that death caused directly by the flu virus is very rare. The vast majority of so-called “flu deaths” are in fact due to bacterial pneumonia – a potential complication of the flu if your immune system is too weak.

Other complications can include ear- or sinus infections, dehydration, and worsening of chronic health conditions.

The elderly and people with other pre existing medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease, are at higher risk of developing pneumonia after a bout of the flu.

The Flu Vaccine Does Not Prevent the Flu, nor Protect Against the Vast Majority of Flu-Related Deaths

The conventional treatment for bacterial pneumonia is an antibiotic, not a viral flu drug, so to think that taking a flu vaccine will prevent death from pneumonia doesn’t really make sense.

“But the vaccine will prevent the flu, which will prevent the possibility of developing pneumonia,” some might say.

That sounds good in theory, but the statistics simply do not support this assertion.

Because study after study, and master studies that compile the results from several studies to get a more objective result, keep coming to the same conclusion: Flu vaccines DO NOT WORK, and in many cases do more harm than good.

In fact, one shocking statistic brought to light in this video is that BEFORE the CDC advocated vaccinating children under the age of five, the number of children dying from the flu was very low, and on the decline.

Then, in 2003, just after children aged five and under started getting vaccinated, the number of flu deaths SKYROCKETED. The death toll was enormous compared to the previous year, when the flu vaccine was not administered en masse to that age group!

How anyone can consider a strategy that yields a higher death toll to be a “success” is a mystery to me.

The Problem with Flu Death Statistics

However, as frightening as much of this may sound, it’s important to keep things in perspective. According to the statistics shown in the video above, more Americans die from asthma, and even malnutrition each year, than the flu.

Unfortunately, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grossly distort the facts about flu deaths, making the flu virus seem far more dangerous than is warranted. On the CDC’s main flu page, they state that about 36,000 people die from the flu in the United States each year.

But if you search a little harder, you can find the actual number of people who died from the flu in 2005 (this is the most recent data that’s available) was 1,806. The remainder was caused by pneumonia. In 2004, there were just 1,100 actual flu deaths.

The statistics the CDC gives are skewed partly because they classify those dying from pneumonia as dying from the flu, which is inaccurate.

How is the Flu Vaccine Made?

This is another area that many people do not understand or take into consideration before getting a seasonal flu shot.

In January or February of each year, health authorities travel to Asia to determine which strains of the flu are currently active. Based on their findings in Asia, they assume that the same strains of viruses will spread to the U.S. by fall.

At this point, U.S. vaccine manufacturers start making that season’s flu vaccine, which will contain the strains found in Asia. However, if the viral strains circulating in the U.S. that season are not identical to those in Asia, the vaccine you receive is a complete dud.

And to add insult to injury, you’ve just been injected with a laundry list of harmful ingredients.

What’s in the Seasonal Flu Vaccine?

The flu strains selected are cultivated in chick embryos for several weeks before being inactivated with formaldehyde, which is a known cancer-causing agent. Then they’re preserved with thimerosal, which is 49 percent mercury by weight.

Even many health care professionals are confused about this and are not aware that the preservative thimerosal is mercury. As a quick side note, one of my chief writers told me that, “the doctor’s office told me the vaccine does not contain mercury, just something called thimerosal.”

Please, don’t be fooled by this incredible ignorance. If you have carefully studied this issue there is a great possibility you may know more than your physician about this topic. Don’t back down if they tell you something you otherwise know to be true.

According to the CDC, the majority of flu vaccines contain thimerosal. Some contain as much as 25 mcg of mercury per dose. This means that it may contain more than 250 times the Environmental Protection Agency’s safety limit for mercury.

By now, most people are well aware that children and fetuses are most at risk of damage from this neurotoxin, as their brains are still developing. Yet the CDC still recommends that children over 6 months, and pregnant women, receive the flu vaccine each year.

In addition to mercury, flu vaccines also contain other toxic or hazardous ingredients like:

  • Aluminum — a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease
  • Triton X-100 — a detergent
  • Phenol (carbolic acid)
  • Ethylene glycol (antifreeze)
  • Betapropiolactone – a disinfectant
  • Nonoxynol – used to kill or stop growth of STDs
  • Octoxinol 9 – a vaginal spermicide
  • Sodium phosphate

How Safe is the Flu Vaccine?

Serious reactions to the flu vaccine include, but are not limited to:

  • Life-threatening allergies to various ingredients
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome (a severe paralytic disease that is fatal in about 1 in 20 cases)
  • Encephalitis (brain inflammation)
  • Neurological disorders
  • Thrombocytopenia (a serious blood disorder)

How Effective is the Flu Vaccine?

Remember that the potential effectiveness of a flu vaccine is dependent on the ASSUMPTION, made nearly a year in advance, that Asia’s viral strains will be the ones hitting the U.S. When they guess wrong, the vaccine is worthless from the very start.

But does that mean they withdraw the flu vaccine when they discover it contains the wrong strains? NO! They just keep giving it out anyway.

But even if they were to overcome that hurdle and actually select the correct strains, there’s still no evidence that it does anyone any good to get a flu vaccine.

Study after study comes back showing the same dismal results: the flu vaccines are not an effective method of prevention of the flu, and they do not save lives. As mentioned earlier, they may even be responsible for an increased death rate in some groups.

Sometimes determining efficacy is as easy as reading the information coming straight from the vaccine manufacturer.

How about this quote taken directly from the flu vaccine FLULAVAL’s package insert (which you likely never see when getting the flu shot) for the 2009-2010 formula:

” FLULAVAL is an influenza virus vaccine indicated for active immunization of adults 18 years of age and older against influenza disease caused by influenza virus subtypes A and type B contained in the vaccine. This indication is based on immune response elicited by FLULAVAL, and there have been no controlled trials demonstrating a decrease in influenza disease after vaccination with FLULAVAL.”

 That’s right, NO controlled trials demonstrating ANY decrease in your risk of contracting the flu at all after vaccination! (It also states that each dose contains a total of 25 mcg of mercury.)

For those of you who are still unconvinced, know that there’s plenty of scientific evidence available to back up the recommendation to avoid flu vaccines. In addition to studies mentioned in the video, here are several other examples showing that flu vaccines do not work for any age group:

  • A study published in the October 2008 issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine found that vaccinating young children against the flu had no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons.

The researchers concluded that “significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting” examined.

  • A 2008 study published in the Lancet found that influenza vaccination was NOT associated with a reduced risk of pneumonia in older people.

This supports an earlier study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

  • Research published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine also confirms that there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza and pneumonia in the elderly, despite the fact that vaccination coverage among the elderly has increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now.
  • In 2007, researchers with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious

Diseases, and the National Institutes of Health published this conclusion in the Lancet Infectious Diseases: “We conclude that frailty selection bias and use of non-specific endpoints such as all-cause mortality,have led cohort studies to greatly exaggerate vaccine benefits.”

  • A large-scale, systematic review of 51 studies, published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews in 2006, found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo in children. The studies involved 260,000 children, age 6 to 23 months.

Last but not least, I think it says a lot that 70 percent of doctors and nurses, and 62 percent of other health care workers do NOT get the yearly flu shot.

The reasons why they opted to not get vaccinated were:

  • They didn’t believe the vaccine would work
  • They believed their immune systems were strong enough to withstand exposure to the flu
  • They were concerned about side effects

Might Influenza be Little More Than a Symptom of Vitamin D Deficiency?

Vitamin D, “the sunshine vitamin,” may very well be one of the most beneficial vitamins there is for disease prevention. Unfortunately it’s also one of the vitamins that a vast majority of people across the world are deficient in due to lack of regular exposure to sunshine.

Published in the journal Epidemiology and Infection in 2006, the hypothesis presented by Dr. John Cannell and colleagues in the paper Epidemic Influenza and Vitamin D raises the possibility that influenza is a symptom of vitamin D deficiency.

The vitamin D formed when your skin is exposed to sunlight regulates the expression of more than 2,000 genes throughout your body, including ones that influence your immune system to attack and destroy bacteria and viruses. Hence, being overwhelmed by the “flu bug” could signal that your vitamin D levels are too low, allowing the flu virus to overtake your immune system.

At least five studies show an inverse association between lower respiratory tract infections and 25(OH)D levels. That is, the higher your vitamin D level, the lower your risk of contracting colds, flu, and other respiratory tract infections:

  1. A 2007 study suggests higher vitamin D status enhances your immunity to microbial infections. They found that subjects with vitamin D deficiency had significantly more days of absence from work due to respiratory infection than did control subjects.
  2. A 2009 study on vitamin D deficiency in newborns with acute lower respiratory infection (ALRI) confirmed a strong, positive correlation between newborns’ and mother’s vitamin D levels. Over 87 percent of all newborns and over 67 percent of all mothers had vitamin D levels lower than 20 ng/ml, which is a severe deficiency state.

Newborns with vitamin D deficiency appear to have an increased risk of developing ALRI, and since the child’s vitamin D level strongly correlates with its mother’s, the researchers recommend that all mothers’ optimize their vitamin D levels during pregnancy, especially in the winter months, to safeguard their baby’s health.

  1. A similar Indian study published in 2004 also reported that vitamin D deficiency in infants significantly raised their odds ratio for having severe ALRI.
  2. A 2009 analysis of the Third National Health andNutrition Examination Survey examined the association between vitamin D levelsand recent upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) in nearly 19,000 subjects over the age of 12.

    Recent URTI was reported by:

    • 17 percent of participants with vitamin D levels of 30ng/ml or higher
    • 20 percent of participants with vitamin D levels between 10-30 ng/ml.
    • 24 percent of participants with vitamin D levels below 10ng/ml

    The positive correlation between lower vitamin D levels and increased risk of URTI was even stronger in individuals with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

  3. Another 2009 report in the journal Pediatric Research stated that infants and children appear more susceptible to viral rather than bacterial infections when deficient in vitamin D. And that, based on the available evidence showing a strong connection between vitamin D, infections, and immune function in children, vitamin D supplementation may be a valuable therapy in pediatric medicine.

How to Prevent the Flu without Getting a Flu Shot

For most people the flu shot does not make you healthy; it does just the opposite and weakens your immune system.

If you follow a healthy lifestyle, you will not have to worry about getting the flu. Take it from me — I’ve never received a flu shot, and I haven’t missed a day of work due to illness in over 20 years. The key steps that I follow to stay flu-free, which I suggest you follow too, include:

Here’s as good of an article that I’ve read on Sunlight recently written by Mike Adams. This is a review to most BW people, but new info to many of my other readers, so bare with me. It’s official: Vitamin D deficiency is so widespread in U.S. children that it poses a huge threat to the future health of an entire generation. A new study published in the journal Pediatrics paints a disturbing picture of vitamin D deficiency across the population of children aged 1 through 21. Three-fourths of young African American children, for example, are deficient in vitamin D. Much the same pattern holds true for Mexican American children. Even white kids, with their fairer skin and greater vitamin D production, hit the charts with 50% – 60% deficiency, depending on the age group.

Of course, in classic medical doublespeak style, health researchers don’t actually call it “deficiency.” (Because that would trigger a whole new urgency to correct the problem.) Instead, they call it “vitamin D insufficiency,” while reserving the term “deficiency” for children who have virtually no vitamin D in their blood whatsoever.

Of course, “insufficient” means “deficient” in the real world, since kids who are now labeled as “insufficient” in vitamin D are, of course, actually quite deficient in the nutrient. And keep in mind that these frighteningly common vitamin D deficiencies exist even when the accepted standards of vitamin D levels in the blood are artificially low to begin with. If you use real numbers of the vitamin D levels required for peak human performance, the truth is that as many as 90 percent of U.S. children are chronically deficient in vitamin D.

“It’s astounding,” said Michal L. Melamed of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, in a Washington Post report (source below). “At first, we couldn’t believe the numbers. I think it’s very worrisome.”

But why are American kids so deficient in vitamin D in the first place?Sunlight deficiency is now at epidemic levels.

The answer, of course, is because kids are sunlight deficient. And that’s due to a few reasons: First, too many kids today spend most of their hours in front of computers, televisions or gaming consoles. The live almost like vampires, staying awake all night, sleeping during the day, living off the flesh of other creatures (beef jerky and hamburgers…).

Many of their parents, too, are part of the problem. Today’s moms seem terrified that their kids might actually experience “the outdoors” for more than a few moments. They wait with air-conditioned cars at the school bus stops, then hustle their kids into pre-cooled cars to drive the quarter mile back to their artificially air-conditioned homes. Sunlight almost never touches these kids (they might turn to dust).

The sunscreen industry also shares some blame in all this, as it thrives on the silly idea that sunlight is bad for children and that all kids need to be smothered in sunscreen lotions before venturing outdoors. (Of course, they never admit their own sunscreen products are filled with cancer-causing chemicals in the first place…)

Above all, the medical establishment is to blame for vitamin D deficiency. Rather than teaching parents and children about the importance of vitamin D, they seem to have declared a blackout on most useful information about the nutrient, preferring instead to prescribe toxic pharmaceutical drugs to treat the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. Osteoporosis drugs, in particular, are made virtually obsolete by vitamin D alone. That’s why you don’t see any drug companies talking about vitamin D — it would destroy osteoporosis drug sales!

Why Vitamin D deficiency is big business for Big Pharma.

The entire “sick care” industry (including Big Pharma) actually depends on widespread nutritional deficiencies in order to create repeat business. Vitamin D deficiency, of course, figures prominently in this equation: It promotes cancer, bone loss, obesity, depression and heart disease. It’s no coincidence that these are some of the biggest profit earners for drug companies.

The Swine Flu Vaccine’s Dirty Little Secret Exposed

For those of you who don’t recieve Dr. Mercola’s newsletters, following is his recent warning about the upcoming swine flu and vaccinations:

According to Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, your children should be the first target for mass swine flu vaccinations when school starts this fall.[i]

This is a ridiculous assumption for many reasons, not to mention extremely high risk.

In Australia, where the winter season has begun, Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon is reassuring parents the swine flu is no more dangerous than regular seasonal flu. “Most people, including children, will experience very mild symptoms and recover without any medical intervention,” she said.[ii]

Sydney-based immunization specialist Robert Booy predicts swine flu might be fatal to about twice as many children in the coming year as regular influenza. Booy estimates 10-12 children could die from the H1N1 virus, compared with the five or six regular flu deaths seen among children in an average year in Australia.[iii]

“Cure the Disease, Kill the Patient”

Less than 100 children in the U.S. die each year from seasonal flu viruses.[iv] If we use Australia’s math, a very rough estimate would be another 100 children could potentially die of swine flu in the United States in the coming year.

If children are the first target group in the U.S. per Sebelius, that means we’re about to inject around 75 million children with a fast tracked vaccine containing novel adjuvants, including dangerous squalene, to prevent perhaps 100 deaths.

I’m not overlooking the tragedy of the loss of even one child to an illness like the H1N1 flu virus. But there can be no argument that unnecessary mass injection of millions of children with a vaccine containing an adjuvant known to cause a host of debilitating autoimmune diseases is a reckless, dangerous plan.

Why are Vaccinations Dangerous?

The presumed intent of a vaccination is to help you build immunity to potentially harmful organisms that cause illness and disease. However, your body’s immune system is already designed to do this in response to organisms which invade your body naturally.

Most disease-causing organisms enter your body through the mucous membranes of your nose, mouth, pulmonary system or your digestive tract – not through an injection.

These mucous membranes have their own immune system, called the IgA immune system. It is a different system from the one activated when a vaccine is injected into your body.

Your IgA immune system is your body’s first line of defense. Its job is to fight off invading organisms at their entry points, reducing or even eliminating the need for activation of your body’s immune system.

When a virus is injected into your body in a vaccine, and especially when combined with an immune adjuvant like squalene, your IgA immune system is bypassed and your body’s immune system kicks into high gear in response to the vaccination.

Injecting organisms into your body to provoke immunity is contrary to nature, and vaccination carries enormous potential to do serious damage to your health.

And as if Vaccines Weren’t Dangerous Enough on Their Own …

… imagine them turbocharged.

The main ingredient in a vaccine is either killed viruses or live ones that have been attenuated (weakened and made less harmful).

Flu vaccines can also contain a number of chemical toxins, including ethylene glycol (antifreeze), formaldehyde, phenol (carbolic acid) and even antibiotics like Neomycin and streptomycin.

In addition to the viruses and other additives, many vaccines also contain immune adjuvants like aluminum and squalene.

The purpose of an immune adjuvant added to a vaccine is to enhance (turbo charge) your immune response to the vaccination. Adjuvants cause your immune system to overreact to the introduction of the organism you’re being vaccinated against.

Adjuvants are supposed to get the job done faster (but certainly not more safely), which reduces the amount of vaccine required per dose, and the number of doses given per individual.

Less vaccine required per person means more individual doses available for mass vaccination campaigns. Coincidentally, this is exactly the goal of government and the pharmaceutical companies who stand to make millions from their vaccines.

Will There Be Immune Adjuvants in Swine Flu Vaccines?

 The U.S. government has contracts with several drug companies to develop and produce swine flu vaccines. At least two of those companies, Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline, are using an adjuvant in their H1N1 vaccines.

The adjuvant? Squalene.

According to Meryl Nass, M.D., an authority on the anthrax vaccine,

“A novel feature of the two H1N1 vaccines being developed by companies Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline is the addition of squalene-containing adjuvants to boost immunogenicity and dramatically reduce the amount of viral antigen needed. This translates to much faster production of desired vaccine quantities.”[v]

Novartis’s proprietary squalene adjuvant for their H1N1 vaccine is MF59. Glaxo’s is ASO3. MF59 has yet to be approved by the FDA for use in any U.S. vaccine, despite its history of use in other countries.

Per Dr. Nass, there are only three vaccines in existence using an approved squalene adjuvant. None of the three are approved for use in the U.S.

What Squalene Does to Rats

 Oil-based vaccination adjuvants like squalene have been proved to generate concentrated, unremitting immune responses over long periods of time.[vi]

A 2000 study published in the American Journal of Pathology demonstrated a single injection of the adjuvant squalene into rats triggered “chronic, immune-mediated joint-specific inflammation,” also known as rheumatoid arthritis.[vii]

The researchers concluded the study raised questions about the role of adjuvants in chronic inflammatory diseases.

What Squalene Does to Humans

Your immune system recognizes squalene as an oil molecule native to your body. It is found throughout your nervous system and brain. In fact, you can consume squalene in olive oil and not only will your immune system recognize it, you will also reap the benefits of its antioxidant properties.

The difference between “good” and “bad” squalene is the route by which it enters your body. Injection is an abnormal route of entry which incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body, not just the vaccine adjuvant.

Your immune system will attempt to destroy the molecule wherever it finds it, including in places where it occurs naturally, and where it is vital to the health of your nervous system.[viii]

Gulf War veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) received anthrax vaccines which contained squalene.[ix] MF59 (the Novartis squalene adjuvant) was an unapproved ingredient in experimental anthrax vaccines and has since been linked to the devastating autoimmune diseases suffered by countless Gulf War vets.[x]

The Department of Defense made every attempt to deny that squalene was indeed an added contaminant in the anthrax vaccine administered to Persian Gulf war military personnel – deployed and non-deployed – as well as participants in the more recent Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP).

However, the FDA discovered the presence of squalene in certain lots of AVIP product. A test was developed to detect anti-squalene antibodies in GWS patients, and a clear link was established between the contaminated product and all the GWS sufferers who had been injected with the vaccine containing squalene.

A study conducted at Tulane Medical School and published in the February 2000 issue of Experimental Molecular Pathology included these stunning statistics:

“ … the substantial majority (95%) of overtly ill deployed GWS patients had antibodies to squalene. All (100%) GWS patients immunized for service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm who did not deploy, but had the same signs and symptoms as those who did deploy, had antibodies to squalene.

 In contrast, none (0%) of the deployed Persian Gulf veterans not showing signs and symptoms of GWS have antibodies to squalene. Neither patients with idiopathic autoimmune disease nor healthy controls had detectable serum antibodies to squalene. The majority of symptomatic GWS patients had serum antibodies to squalene.”[xi]

According to Dr. Viera Scheibner, Ph.D., a former principle research scientist for the government of Australia:

“… this adjuvant [squalene] contributed to the cascade of reactions called “Gulf War Syndrome,” documented in the soldiers involved in the Gulf War.

 The symptoms they developed included arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anaemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), Raynaud’s phenomenon, Sjorgren’s syndrome, chronic diarrhoea, night sweats and low-grade fevers.”[xii]

Post Vaccination Follow-Up Might as Well Be Non-Existent

 There is virtually no science to support the safety of vaccine injections on your long-term health or the health of your children. Follow-up studies last on average about two weeks, and look only for glaring injuries and illnesses.

Autoimmune disorders like those seen in Gulf War Syndrome frequently take years to diagnose due to the vagueness of early symptoms. Complaints like headaches, fatigue and chronic aches and pains are symptoms of many different illnesses and diseases.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for vaccine purveyors and proponents to look seriously at the long-term health consequences of their vaccination campaigns.
